Nieuwe Testament was de apostel Andreas de broer van de apostel Simon Petrus
en de eerste discipel van Jezus. Volgens de legende werd hij in Griekenland
gekruisigd aan een X-vormig kruis. Later zou deze kruisvorm bekend worden als
het Andreaskruis. Hij is
de patroonheilige van Schotland, Rusland en Griekenland. |

brother of the apostle Simon Peter and the first disciple of Jesus. According
to legend he was crucified in Greece on an X-shaped cross. Later this form of
a cross got the name Andreas-cross. He is the patron saint of Scotland,
Russia and Greece. |
